Qu'est-ce que c'est ?
Le Bouton d'Edition Universel (Universal Edit Button) est une icone verte représentant un crayon
dans la barre d'adresse qui indique qu'une page web est éditable. C'est comme bouton orange d'un flux RSS
qui indique justement un flux RSS.
Pour voir le Bouton d'Edition Universel sur votre navigateur, installez-ça Extention de Firefox, (indications d'installation). On espère que dans quelques temps tout les navigateurs vont intégrer directement le Bouton d'Edition Universel comme ils l'ont fait pour les flux RSS.
A quoi sert le Bouton d'Edition Universel?
Le Bouton d'Edition Universel (UEB)
permettra à l'internaute de rapidement reconnaitre quand un site internet est éditable. Ça devrai faciliter la tâche des internautes qui ont l'habitude de contribuer et attirer ceux qui découvrent le monde collaboratif. Pour les utilisateurs pour qui l'édition publique de pages est devenue habituelle, le bouton pourrai être vu comme une médaille d'honneur. Ca pourrai aussi inciter et encourager les entreprises et les développeurs à ajouter des composants publiquement éditables à leurs sites et avoir le Bouton
disposé sur leurs pages.
Ainsi on espère que ce bouton sera le catalyseur d'une accélération des pages éditables (wiki) et aider l'idée de la construction de valeurs autour de sources communes.
Origine
La vision originelle du web de Tim Berners-Lee était celle d'un média qui permet la lecture et l'écriture. Alors que la web arrive à maturité, très peu de sites offrent la possibilité à l'utilisateur la possibilité de d'écrire ou d'éditer leurs pages. Le web est devenu principalement un média de lecture seulement. Tout le monde surfe mais peu de personnes ont la chance de contribuer.
Depuis des années, les wiki-utilisateurs et autres systèmes collaboratifs ouverts diffusent l'idée que le web doit être éditable par n'importe qui à n'importe quel moment. Le succès de Wikipedia et l'utilisation croissante d'autres Wikis comme WikiHow, AboutUs, wikiTravel and Wikia démontrent que l'édition libre crée des sources d'information de bonne qualité. Les sites "traditionnels" n'arrétent pas d'ajouter des outils pour donner la possibilité à n'importe qui de participer. Les wikis apparaissent désormais dans les logiciels d'entreprise et dans les produits grand public comme ceux sur internet offerts par le géant google. L'internet deviens plus éditable de jour en jour, les internautes deviennent utilisent et deviennent plus créatifs avec les outils qui permettent à l'information d'être partagée.
Historique du Bouton d'Edition Universel
Les conversations à propos de l'idée ont commencé au RoCoCo (a RecentChangesCamp) à Montréal en 2007 et les discussion se sont poursuivies ici ; the AboutUs wiki. Au Recent Changes Camp de Palo Alto 2008, plusieurs personnes ont exploré l'idée, furent intéresses par l'utilisation d'outils permettant de découvrir l'information automatiquement et ont permis à l'idée d'être diffusée.
Plusieurs propositions ont étés suggérées et dessinées par les éditeurs de wikis pour l'icône du Bouton d'Edition Universel pour lui servir de logo. L'icône actuel a été sélectionné sur une proposition faite par Ward Cunningham au début des discussions. Comme l'adoption du Bouton d'Edition Universel s'accroit de plus en plus, la communauté des éditeurs devrait décider de le modifier. Pour le moment notre but est de promouvoir un bouton qui marche sur toutes les plateformes (wiki pour débuter), indépendant de toute langue particulière et simple d'utilisation mais qui évoque le fait que c'est éditable.
